In addition to these, the mortality (death rate) effect on Daphnia magna (water flea) before and after removal was also determined in the study. The bacteria used were enriched and taken in required volumes and added to the solutions prepared based on the recommended concentrations (375, 500, 750 and 1000 ppm) of the herbicide with active Pyroxasulfone ingredient for use in agricultural areas. Mortality rates on Daphnia magna were determined with the samples with the highest removal rates and the samples prepared at the concentrations recommended for use in agricultural lands. According to the data obtained, the percentages of COD and TOC removal were determined in the range of 37 - 90% in both bacteria species and their mixtures at various times. At the end of 96 hours in untreated media, a mortality effect of around 40 - 80% on Daphnia Magna was detected, while in treated media it was between 75 - 100%. According to the results of the study, it was observed that M. arthrosphorea, M. radiotolerans and their consortiums performed an effective bioremediation on the herbicides with pyroxasulfone active ingredient at the concentrations recommended to be used into the field, but the media at the final COD and TOC concentrations with the highest removal achieved also had a toxic effect on Daphnia magna. This is explained by the toxic effect of the degradation products of the pyroxasulfone herbicide.
