Thermal Device Beyond the Carnot Limit

    Zengin, B.; Askin, M.; Salti, M.; Aydogdu, O.

Based on the Carnot cycle, we construct a theoretical heat engine working through the agency of the generalized polytropic gas. A heat engine described by using a thermodynamic equation-of-state defines a thermodynamical relation among state quantities such as internal energy U, volume V, entropy S, temperature T and heat capacity C. Investigating the thermal efficiency of the constructed heat engine shows that more efficient heat engine is obtained from the Carnot heat engine when the pressure of the working material takes certain values.

New exact solutions for the doubly dispersive equation using the improved Bernoulli sub-equation function method

Dusunceli, Faruk; Celik, Ercan; Askin, Muzaffer; Bulut, Hasan

In this study, the doubly dispersive equation is presented by the application of the improved Bernoulli sub-equation function method (IBSEFM). The doubly dispersive equation which is a nonlinear partial differential equation is transformed into nonlinear ordinary differential equation using a wave transformation and then is solved by IBSEFM. Some new solutions are successfully constructed. All the obtained solutions in this study have been satisfied the doubly dispersive equation. In the present study, we have used Wolfram Mathematica 9 software for all of the computations and graphic plottings.

    Polytropic Carnot heat engine

    Askin, M.; Salti, M.; Aydogdu, O.

Recent astrophysical datasets have implied that the universe has entered a speedy expansion phase. The Polytropic gas model, which describes a unified formulation of dark contents (matter plus energy), is one of the most reasonable definitions of this mysterious phenomenon. This interesting formulation allows to simulate the dark contents in the cosmic form of the perfect fluid and gives an interesting point of view in the discussion of fundamental theories of physics. In the first step of our investigation, we discuss the thermal equation-of-state (EoS henceforth) and obtain the EoS and deceleration parameters as explicit functions of temperature. Subsequently, we obtain a relation for the thermal efficiency of the Carnot heat engine which depends on free parameters given in the cosmological Polytropic gas description and the limits of maximal and minimal temperatures imposed on the Carnot cycle.

Investigation Of Mechanical Stresses On Sandwich Composite Layers According To The Pressure By Making Use Of Ansys Software

Taşkaya, Semih; Zengin, Bilgin; Kaymaz, Kürşat; Aşkın, Muzaffer

In this study, in Ansys package program 2 different models of 3 intermediate layers, with a straight and 7° orientation angle, are designed as 3 dimensional according to x, y, z coordinate measurements. Sandwich plates with smooth and radial geometries were fixed in two different tests from their right and left supports, linearly and mechanical stresses were analyzed according to axes under 4 MPa pressure. Here, we mainly analysed two different structures by comparing features according to the cases that having same shape-different supports and different shapes-same support. It has been investigated that the compression ratios of straight anchorage support increase linearly as a function of linear meshes in the same geometry but different support stresses. The radial anchorage support draw ratio decreases with linear supports while the compression ratios increase with x axis and decrease with y and z axes. On the other hand, it is concluded that radial anchorage ratio for the structures having different shapes and same type supports increases in x axis and decreases in both y and z. Moreover, one can see that radial linear support has lower draw and compression ratios on the x axis, and also the quantity increases on the y axis while the compression ratio decreases on the z axis.

New soliton properties to the ill-posed Boussinesq equation arising in nonlinear physical science

Duran, Serbay; Sulaiman, Tukur Abdulkadir B; Aşkın, Muzaffer

In manuscript, with the help of the Wolfram Mathematica 9, we employ themodified exponential function method in obtaining some new soliton solutions tothe ill-posed Boussinesq equation arising in nonlinear media. Results obtainedwith use of technique, and also, surfaces for soliton solutions are given. We alsoplot the 3D and 2D of each solution obtained in this study by using the sameprogram in the Wolfram Mathematica 9.

Cosmology via thermodynamics of polytropic gas

Askin, Muzaffer; Salti, Mustafa; Aydogdu, Oktay

We study cosmological scenarios of the polytropic gas (PG) dark matter-energy proposal in a Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) Universe. As a first step, we obtain an exact expression for the energy density of PG model by making use of the thermodynamics. Later, we investigate some cosmological quantities and perform neo-classical analyzes. Finally, we implement a connection between the PG and a homogenous minimally coupled scalar field by introducing its self-interacting potential.

The examination of a variety of different ions added to the crown ether derivatives with high field NMR spectrometer

Aşkin, Muzaffer; Zengin, Bilgin; Korunur, Sibel; Kor, Harun; Köylü, M. Zafer

The current study involves the measurements of T1 relaxation time of complexes three different crown ethers (4-aminobenzo-15-Crown-5, 1-Aza-18-Crown-6, 1-Aza-15-Crown-5) and two different ions sodium perchlorate (NaClO4), lithium perchlorate (LiClO4) by a 400 MHz NMR spectrometer. The association constants (Ka) of the complexes were determined on the basis of the evaluation of these measurements using the Benesi-Hildebrand method that we have modified. These association constants were consistent with those obtained from 1H NMR titration technique. As a result, it can be speculated that binding constants could be measured using T1 relaxation time when chemical shifts are very small or cannot be observed.
