- MakaleAçık Erişim2026Mapping the Evolution of Interior Architecture and Interior Design: A VOSviewer-Based Bibliometric Analysis
Ay, Ilhami; Dal, Murat; Bekler, Sema; Bekler, Baris
This study conducts a comprehensive bibliometric analysis to explore the academic evolution of interior architecture and interior design literature from 1975 to 2024 using the Web of Science (WoS) database. A total of 3,695 articles were analyzed through VOSviewer software to visualize and interpret research trends, citation networks, co-authorship clusters, and thematic keyword occurrences. The findings indicate a steady growth in publications, particularly after 2006, coinciding with the increasing emphasis on digitalization and sustainability in design. Prominent research themes include biophilic design, adaptive reuse, and the psychological effects of color and space. The dominance of English-language publications is evident, though contributions in Turkish, French, and Spanish are also recognized. Citation analyses identify influential studies that link technical developments with social and psychological perspectives in design. Thematic clustering highlights the interdisciplinary expansion of the field, integrating insights from environmental psychology, ergonomics, and emerging digital technologies such as virtual and augmented reality. This study contributes to the literature by offering a clear roadmap for future research, promoting international collaboration, and strengthening the link between academic inquiry and design practice.
- Kitap BölümüYalnız künye2025Bibliometric analysis of life cycle assessment and sustainable design literature using vosviewer
Ay, Ilhami; Dal, Murat
This study presents a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of the literature on Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and sustainable design. As a result of a search of the Web of Science database, 655 articles were analysed and through these articles, the evolution, interaction and changes in the academic impact of the field were revealed. The increase in the number of publications and citations, especially since the 2010s, shows that the importance of this field in the academic world has increased. The fact that the majority of the articles are original researches shows that scientific activities in this field are carried out in depth. In addition, it has been determined that key concepts such as life cycle assessment and sustainable design are intensively included in the literature. The study also provides important findings on the most active authors, journals and articles in the field, emphasising the need for a multidisciplinary approach for future research.
- Kitap BölümüYalnız künye2025Scientific production in waste management and ecological sustainability from a bibliometric approach
Ay, Ilhami; Dal, Murat
This study employs a bibliometric approach to examine the scientific production trends in waste management and ecological sustainability, encompassing publications from 1995 to 2024. The research employs the VOSviewer software to analyse 778 academic articles indexed in the Web of Science database. By identifying key journals, influential authors, major keywords and citation networks, the study elucidates the academic evolution and emerging directions in waste management research. The findings indicate a significant increase in publication activity post-2014, which reflects the growing importance of sustainability issues. The key themes identified include waste management, environmental sustainability, life cycle assessment, and the circular economy. The study underscores the need for interdisciplinary approaches and enhanced global collaboration in advancing sustainable waste management practices. Through its comprehensive analysis, this research provides valuable insights for academia and policymakers to address environmental challenges effectively.
