İncele - MakaleYalnız künye2021FATTY ACID CONTENT AND FREE RADICAL SCAVENGING (DPPH) ACTIVITIES OF SOME OF BRYOPHYTES EXTRACTS
Aydinl, Sevinc; Alatas, Mevlut; Batan, Nevzat
In this study, DPPH and fatty acid contents were investigated of some taxa belonging to Neckeraceae (Alleniella complanata, Alleniella besseri, Exsertotheca crispa) and Hypnaceae (Hypnum cupressiforme, Hypnum resupinatum, Hypnum andoi) family collected from Kamilet Valley (Artvin-Arhavi) in 2017. DPPH free radical scavenging activity was determined according to the method developed by Brand-Williams et al. The fatty acids in extracts were analyzed via gas chromatography after transforming them into methyl esters. According to the obtained results, it was determined that the DPPH scavenging effects of taxa from Hypnaceae family were significantly higher than those of taxa from Neckeraceae family, and that the free radical scavenging effects of taxa from Hypnaceae family varied depending on the amount of extract. The saturated fatty acids content of the Neckeraceae and the unsaturated fatty acids of the Hypnaceae were found to be richer (p<0.001). The high DPPH activity in our study, especially in Hypnum species, suggested that Hypnum species were richer in terms of phenolic content. These compounds can be used in the pharmaceutical, cosmetic and food sectors, if both of these species are phenolic and fatty acid content can be obtained as pure.

As a result of the analyses, Alleniella besseri-Leucodontetum immersi as. nov., Plagiomnio undulati-Raduletum lindbergianae typicum and P.-R. leucodontetosum sciuroidis subas. nov. (Neckerion complanatae) were described and characterised as a new epiphytic. Mnietum cuspidati, Homalothecio sericei-Neckeretum besseri and Brachythecietum populei-isothecietosum alopecuroidis were also described as new to Turkey, whereas Brachythecietum populei typicum was recorded for the second time in Turkey.

GSH and GSSG levels of species were determined as Bryum argenteum 232.70 ± 13.40 µg/g ve 4,22 ± 1.20 µg/g; Imbribryum mildeanum 135.55 ± 6.66 µg/g ve 26.97 ± 2.50 µg/g; Ptychostomum imbricatulum (I) 107.44 ± 8.71 µg/g ve 153.05 ± 9.85 µg/g; Ptychostomum imbricatulum (II) 207.97 ± 13.58 µg/g ve 107.67 ± 4.55 µg/g; Ptychostomum moravicum (I) 172.89 ± 6.35 µg/g ve 12.53 ± 2.59 µg/g; Ptychostomum moravicum (II) 172.15 ± 6.62 µg/g ve 20.48 ± 2.54 µg/g; Ptychostomum moravicum (III) 176.84 ± 6.49 µg/g ve 28.86 ± 4.59 µg/g ve Ptychostomum capillare 234.38 ± 5.79 µg/g ve 6.58 ± 1.91 µg/g respectively. These results showed that these bryophyte species belonging to the Bryaceae family are very good sources of glutathione (GSH and GSSG). Due to their high glutathione content, it has been concluded that the family and species are antioxidant plants and can be used as raw material in various fields.

Alataş, Mevlüt; Batan, Nevzat; Ezer, Tülay
In this study, the vegetation of epiphytic bryophytes in the Kamilet Valley and its surroundings (Arhavi, Artvin) was investigated. The study area is located within the borders of the Eastern Black Sea Mountains and is one of the 122 important plant areas in Turkey. The investigation of epiphytic bryophyte communities was carried out in 2016 during different vegetation periods according to Braun-Blanquet’s phytosociological methodology. Phytosociological data obtained from 65 relevés were ordinated using detrended correspondence analysis (DECORANA) and classified using two-way indicator species analysis (TWINSPAN). Consequently, six epiphytic bryophyte communities new to Turkey were determined with TWINSPAN and DECORANA: Leucobryo-Tetraphidetum pellucidae, Anomodonto attenuati-Neckeretum crispae, Frullanio tamarisci-Exsertothecetum crispae, Ulotetum crispae, Anomodonto attenuati-Neckeretum crispae-leucodontetosum sciuroidis, and Ulotetum crispae-isothecietosum alopecuroidis. All syntaxa are presented by analyzing them in terms of their ecological and floristic classifications.

Pellia epiphylla has been reported for the first time in Elazığ province with the present paper. While the largest families in terms of number of taxa are Pottiaceae (14), Brachytheciaceae (9), Bryaceae and Grimmiaceae (8), the largest genera are Syntrichia (6), Grimmia (6) and Ptychostomum (4). In addition, the life forms of the taxa which were examined in terms of ecological and floristic have been analyzed. From life forms; while Turf life form ranks the first, Cu life form ranks the second. Most of the taxa within the floristic list in terms of some ecological characteristics are xerophyt, photophyt and subneutrophyt

These amounts have shown that Glutathione (GSH, GSSG) level included in Syntrichia ruralis taxon is more than Syntrichia montana taxon and both of bryophytes-leaved taxa are a good source with regard to Glutathione. It has seen that these bryophytes -leaved are antioxidant featured plants.

In this study, epiphytic bryophyte flora and vegetation were investigated of Boraboy and Destek forests in Amasya province (Turkey). A total of 22 bryophyte taxa (19 mosses, 3 liverworts) were recorded in the research site. As a result of the investigation of 32 sampling releves taken from the trunks by the Braun-Blanquet method, two epiphytic bryophyte associations (Orthotrichetum pallentisand Orthotrichetum striati) belonging to the Ulotion crispaealliance were detected. Among these syntaxa Orthotrichetum pallentiswas recorded for the first time from Turkey. Furthermore, the life forms and life strategies spectrum in syntaxa were analyzed. Analysis result indicates a distinct correlation between life forms, strategies and ecological conditions of the area. Weft and cushion are dominant life forms, Perennial stayers with high sexual reproductive effort is dominant life strategy in the syntaxa. In addition, the ecological characteristics of bryophyte taxa were evaluated. According to these results the largest number of epiphytic bryophytes in the area are mesophytic, sciophyte and subneutrophyte.
