Erguven, G. O.; Yildirim, N.
This study is concerning the environmental fate of chlorsulfuron and tribenuron-methyl herbicide in a wheat planted field at Thrace Region in Turkey. Use of herbicides containing these active ingredients is advised in the Marmara region in Turkey for cereal agriculture. The study was conducted in wheat planted fields where these herbicides were used. Over nine months, in each two or three week periods, soil samples were obtained from selected sampling points and herbicide residuals were determined by gas chromatography with electron capture detector (GC-ECD) and high performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS). As a result of these studies, persistence of chlorsulfuron was determined as approximately 1.2% at the second half of June, 2016 and tribenuron methyl seemed to be approximately 1% at the end of May, 2016. The results of the present study showed that chlorsulfuron is generally adsorbed weakly by soil when compared to tribenuron-methyl. pH, organic material, climatic factors and clay content of soil were the main factors influencing the adsorption and desorption properties of the herbicides. The results of this study demonstrated that chlorsulfuron and tribenuron-methyl residues in the soil might depend on their different chemical structures, soil temperature, precipitation and humidity.

- MakaleYalnız künye2016Scopus SJRQ3Efficiency of some soil bacteria for chemical oxygen demand reduction of synthetic chlorsulfuron solutions under agiated culture conditions
Erguven, G. O.; Yildirim, N.
This study searches the efficiency of certain soil bacteria on chemical oxygen demand (COD) reduction of synthetic chlorsulfuron solutions under agitated culture conditions. It also aims to determine the turbidity of liquid culture medium with chlorsulfuron during bacterial incubation for 120 hours. As a result the highest and lowest COD removal efficiency of bacteria was determined for Bacillus simplex as 94% and for Micrococcus luteus as 70%, respectively at the end of the 96th hour. It was found that COD removal efficiency showed certain differences depend on the bacterial species. It was also observed that B. simplex had the highest COD removal efficiency and it was a suitable bacterium species for bioremediation of a chlorsulfuron contaminated soils.

- MakaleYalnız künye2016Scopus SJRQ3The capacity of some newly bacteria and fungi for biodegradation of herbicide trifluralin under agiated culture media
Erguven, G. O.; Bayhan, H.; Ikizoglu, B.; Kanat, G.; Nuhoglu, Y.
Bioremediation is the use of microorganisms to degrade environmental contaminants (pesticides, polyaromatic hydrocarbons etc.) into less toxic forms or compounds. In this study microbial biodegradation of trifluralin was performed in liquid media with 11 different types of identified fungi and bacteria cultures and their mixtures in agiated culture media. The isolated fungi and bacteria mixtures showed the highest degradation, reaching 93% in the chemical oxygen demand (COD) parameter in four days and 82% as trifluralin active ingredient in five days. Bacteria and fungi mixtures achieved 69% and 66% degradations of trifluralin active ingredient respectively. In the fungi studies, the best removal was achieved by M. Chlamydosporia at 80%, in the bacteria studies, the best removal was achieved by Bacillus simplex about 95% in five days. These different removal rates were due to the microbial differencies.
