Comparison of the Performance of Machine Learning Methods with Intuitionistic Fuzzy Decision Making for Effective Fake News Detection

    Tuğrul, Feride

In this paper, the success of machine learning models applied to two datasets consisting of fake news was examined. The performance of these methods was measured using Accuracy, Precision, Recall, and F1-Score. Evaluation metrics for all models were calculated using TF-IDF and N-gram TF-IDF for Dataset 1 and Dataset 2, respectively. In continuation of the study, a decision-making mechanism was created to measure the success of machine learning methods. The success of these models was compared by creating a decision-making mechanism using intuitionistic fuzzy sets. The PROMETHEE method was used here. In the first stage of the study, the dataset samples evaluated were expressed using classical sets, while in the second stage, the success of the models according to the metrics was expressed using intuitionistic fuzzy values. This was to minimize the uncertainty in the model success results. The results obtained in the first stage of the study were evaluated in the second stage using a decision-making mechanism. In this mechanism, machine learning models represent the alternatives, while classification metrics represent the criteria. When evaluating machine learning models, experts provide subjective opinions based on each classification metric to determine the successful model.

BSC-Based Digital Transformation Strategy Selection and Sensitivity Analysis

Oner, Mahir; Cebeci, Ufuk; Dogan, Onur

In today’s digital age, businesses are tasked with adapting to rapidly advancing technology. This transformation is far from simple, with many companies facing difficulties navigating new technological trends. This paper highlights a key segment of a comprehensive strategic model developed to address this challenge. The model integrates various planning and decision-making tools, such as the Balanced Scorecard (BSC), Objectives and Key Results (OKR), SWOT analysis, TOWS, and the Spherical Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (SFAHP). Integrating these tools in the proposed model provides businesses with a well-rounded pathway to manage digital transformation. The model considers human elements, uncertainty management, needs prioritization, and flexibility, aiming to find the optimal balance between theory and practical applications in real-world business scenarios. This particular study delves into the use of SFAHP, specifically addressing the challenge of effectively selecting the most suitable strategy among various options. This approach not only brings a new perspective to digital transformation but also highlights the importance of choosing the right strategy. This choice is crucial for the overall adaptation of businesses. It shows how carefully applying the SFAHP method is key. Combining this with a successful digital transformation strategy is essential. Together, they provide practical and efficient solutions for businesses in a fast-changing technological environment.

Interval basic uncertain information and related aggregations in decision making

Jin, Lesheng; Mesiar, Radko; Yager, Ronald; Kaya, Sema Kayapinar

The recently proposed basic uncertain information can directly present numerical uncertainties for given real values, but it cannot handle given interval values which themselves also have uncertainties. Against this background, this work proposes the concept of interval basic uncertain information which serves as a generalization of basic uncertain information and involves two types of uncertainties. We analyze some basic operations, weighted arithmetic mean and preference transformation for interval basic uncertain information. The Rule-based decisions and the comprehensive certainty of interval basic uncertain information are also discussed. An illustrative example of multi-source multi-criteria evaluation under interval basic uncertain information environment is presented.

Study on model uncertainty of water source heat pump and impact on decision making

Zhang, Ying; Akkurt, Nevzat; Yuan, Jiaqi; Xiao, Ziwei; Wang, Qianjiang; Gang, Wenjie

Water source heat pump systems are widely used for cooling and heating due to high efficiency. The energy source can be surface water or underground water. Accurate modeling of water source heat pump systems is the basis for performance prediction, design and control optimization. However, various heat pump models are available to predict the system performance and results obtained can be very different under different models due to the model uncertainty. Without considering these uncertainties, the performance of water source heat pump systems would be overestimated or underestimated and the decision making would be affected. This paper attempts to quantify the model uncertainty of water source heat pump and its impact on the system performance. Thirteen commonly-used models are selected and validated using the manufacture data. By importing these models into the water source heat pump system, the impact of heat pump model uncertainty on the system performance is quantified. It shows that the model uncertainty can result in a deviation of up to 30% in the annual energy consumption. The energy saving potential of water source heat pump systems can vary from -18.43% to 14.78% compared with the chillers & boiler in the hot summer and cold winter area. The priority of water source heat pump systems is also controversial. The difference in the annual average coefficient of performance of the system can be up to 1.22. It demonstrates that the model uncertainty of water source heat pumps affects the system performance significantly and should be taken into account in building energy prediction and design optimization. The models considering the correction of part load ratio are recommended.
