Utku, Anıl
Traffic density prediction is important for users to make better travel decisions, reduce traffic congestion, save time and fuel, and increase traffic processing efficiency. With the development and widespread use of intelligent transportation systems, traffic density prediction has received more and more attention. Traffic density prediction is heavily dependent on historical and real-time traffic data. Large amounts of traffic data are obtained instantly from sources such as sensors, cameras, mobile devices and social media. Increasing traffic data reveals the use of artificial intelligence technologies to solve the traffic management problem. In this study, an LSTM-based prediction model has been developed for traffic density prediction. The developed prediction model has been tested using traffic data of Istanbul with LR, RF, SVM, MLP, CNN and RNN. Experimental results showed that the developed LSTM-based model has more successful results than the compared models. The developed model had approximately 0.9 R2 value in predicting the number of vehicles and average speed.

İncele - MakaleAçık Erişim2021The Effect of Carbon Black on Moisture Performance of Asphalt Pavements
Geçkil, Tacettin; İnce, Ceren Beyza; Aksağan, Zülfükar
In this study, the effects of carbon black (CB) additive obtained from waste tires on the moisture performance of hot mix asphalt pavements were investigated. For this purpose, modified asphalts were prepared by adding 5%, 10%, 15% and 20% CB by weight to pure asphalt with penetration class B 160/220. Physical properties of pure and modified asphalts were determined by penetration, softening point and ductility tests, and workability properties were determined by rotational viscometer (RV) test. Then, the optimum asphalt content of the mixture was determined according to Marshall design method by using aggregate and pure asphalt for mixture design. Based on this determined ratio, pure and modified asphalts and hot mix samples were prepared. Pure and CB added modified mixture samples were subjected to Marshall stability, retained Marshall stability (RMS) and indirect tensile strength (ITS) tests. According to the physical test results, it was observed that the hardness and workability temperatures of the modified binders increased with the CB additive. According to the test results of the mixture, it was observed that CB additive had an improving effect on the moisture performance of road pavements due to the significant increases in Marshall stability, RMS and indirect tensile strength ratio (ITSR) values, especially at the rate of 10% CB.

İncele - MakaleAçık Erişim2020Trace Metal Profiles of Human Hair and Nail Samples Collected from Urban and Rural Areas of Zonguldak, Turkey
Ören, Muhammet; Çabuk, Hasan; Alataş, Mevlüt; Uyar, Güray; Uyar, Aysel
Hair and nail samples were collected during a period of October to December 2012 from 63 healthy humans whohave been living in Zonguldak for at least ten consecutive years. The humans aged over 30 years and having noserious health problems were participated in the study. The methodology involved the collection, ultrasoniccleaning and microwave digestion of samples. The measurements of trace metals (As, Cu, Zn, Se, Cd, Pb, Cr, Feand Ni) in samples were performed with ICP-MS. The predominant metals determined in the both hair and nailsamples were the essential metals with the decreasing concentrations in the order of Zn>Fe>Cu. Other metalsdetermined in the hair samples followed the concentration order of Pb>Se>Ni>Cr>As>Cd, whereas in the nailsamples, the order was Se>Ni>Cr>Pb>As>Cd. Subgroups were formed according to location and gender. Se andFe concentrations in hair samples obtained from urban residents were significantly higher. With regard to nailsamples, the rural residents exhibited more elevated Fe levels significantly. Gender had a significant influence onthe concentration of Zn and Cu in hair samples with females presenting higher values. However, the effect ofgender on the trace metal concentrations in nail samples was negligible. The metal concentrations obtained forZonguldak were within or below the values reported worldwide.

İncele - MakaleYalnız künye2018Analysis of Frictionless Contact Problem for A Weighted Layer on An Elastic Half Plane Using FEM
Polat, Alper; Kaya, Yusuf; Özşahin, Talat Şükrü
In this study, a comparative analysis of the continuous contact problem of a homogeneous layer loaded by two rigid flat blocks and resting on elastic half plane is investigated using the finite element method (FEM). The results obtained from the elasticity solution are compared with FEM solutions. Also in this problem, it is assumed that the all surfaces are frictionless. Two dimensional finite element analysis of the problem is carried out using ANSYS Mechanical APDL. The analyzes are performed for different loading conditions of Q and P loads. Initial separation load and initial separation points (xcr, λcr) and normal stresses (σy) between the homogenous layer and the elastic half plane are determined. The obtained results are shown in graphs and tables.

Doğan, Gülden; Kiran, Yasar; Tasar, Neslihan
Cyanus (Asteraceae) cinsine ait Cyanus depressus (M. Bieb.)
