Tangent hyperbolic non-Newtonian radiative bioconvection nanofluid flow from a bi-directional stretching surface with electro-magneto-hydrodynamic, Joule heating and modified diffusion effects

Prakash, J.; Tripathi, Dharmendra; Akkurt, Nevzat; Bég, O. Anwar

Motivated by bio-inspired nano-technological functional coating flows, in the current paper a theoretical study of laminar, steady, incompressible bioconvection flow of a tangential hyperbolic (non-Newtonian) nanofluid from a bi-directional stretching surface under mutually orthogonal electrical and magnetic fields is presented. Nonlinear thermal radiation, Joule heating and heat source/sink effects are included. Non-Fourier and non-Fickian models are also implemented which feature thermal and solutal relaxation. Buongiorno’s nanoscale model is adopted which features thermophoresis and Brownian motion effects. Rosseland’s model is employed for thermal radiation. The electro-viscous effects arising from the distortions of the double-capacitance electric flow field are addressed with a modified formulation of the Poisson–Boltzmann equation. Via appropriate similarity transformations, the coupled, nonlinear partial differential conservation boundary layer equations and wall and freestream boundary conditions are rendered into a nonlinear ordinary differential boundary value problem which is solved numerically with an efficient numerical Lobatto—IIIa collocation method available in the MATLAB bvp4c shooting solver. Validation with previous studies is included. Velocity is strongly damped with increasing buoyancy ratio and bioconvection Rayleigh number is generally greater with positive rather than negative electrical field parameter. Increasing the Eckert number reduces the density of motile microorganisms while raising the temperature. An increment in Brownian motion and radiative parameters strongly accentuates temperatures.

Analytical and finite element solutions of continuous contact problem in functionally graded layer

Kaya, Yusuf; Polat, Alper; Özşahin, Talat Şükrü

In this study, we solve the continuous contact problem of two layers with different material properties, loaded with two rigid flat blocks and resting on a rigid plane, by analytical and finite element methods. All surfaces are assumed to be frictionless. The upper layer is the functionally graded layer (FG), the height h1, the underlying layer is homogeneous, and the height is h2. It is assumed that the FG layer is isotropic and that the shear modulus and density change exponentially. The FG layer is loaded by means of two rigid flat blocks whose external loads are Q and P (per unit thickness in z direction). In the analytical solution of the problem, stress and displacement expressions are substituted in the boundary conditions and the problem is demoted to singular integral equations where the contact stresses are the unknown functions. These singular integral equations are solved numerically using the Gauss–Chebyshev integration formulas. Two-dimensional finite element analysis of the problem is performed using the ANSYS package program. The analyses are performed for different shear modulus ratios (μ2/μ-h1), distances between the blocks ((c − b)/h1) and inhomogeneity parameters (βh1). The contact stresses under the blocks, the normal stresses (σy) between interfaces of the FG layer and the homogeneous layer and between the homogeneous layer and rigid plane are also measured. In addition, the initial separation load and the initial separation distances (χcr, λcr) of the FG layer and homogeneous layer are determined. The results are presented comparatively as graphs and tables.

Cancer treatment model with the Caputo-Fabrizio fractional derivative

Ali Dokuyucu, Mustafa; Celik, Ercan; Bulut, Hasan; Mehmet Baskonus, Haci

In this article, a model for cancer treatment is examined. The model is integrated into the Caputo-Fabrizio fractional derivative first, to examine the existence of the solution. Then, the uniqueness of the solution is investigated and we identified under which conditions the model provides a unique solution.

On the new wave solutions to a nonlinear model arising in plasma physics

Ilhan, Onur Alp; Sulaiman, Tukur Abdulkadir; Bulut, Hasan; Baskonus, Haci Mehmet

In this paper, we utilize the sine-Gordon expansion method and construct some travelling wave solutions to the (3+1)-dimensional modified KdV-Zakharov-Kuznetsev equation which arises in plasma physics. We successfully obtain some hyperbolic function solutions to this equation. By choosing some suitable values of parameters, we perform the numerical simulation of all the obtained solutions in this study. We observed that our result may be useful in detecting some ion-acoustic waves behaviors in a magnetized plasma. All the computations and graphic plots in this article are performed with the aid of the Mathematica package.

Solitons in an inhomogeneous Murnaghan’s rod

Cattani, Carlo; Sulaiman, Tukur Abdulkadir; Baskonus, Haci Mehmet; Bulut, Hasan

In this paper, we construct a family of wave solutions to the doubly dispersive equation, such as topological, non-topological, singular, compound topological-non-topological bell-type and compound singular, soliton-like, singular periodic wave and exponential function solutions. These analytical solutions are obtained by using the extended sinh-Gordon equation expansion method and the modified exp (- φ(ζ)) -expansion function method. The doubly dispersive equation is an important nonlinear physical model describing the nonlinear wave propagation in the elastic inhomogeneous Murnaghan’s rod. Under a suitable choice of parameters, the 2D, 3D and contour graphics to the reported results are also plotted.

Solutions of partial differential equations using the fractional operator involving Mittag-Leffler kernel

Yavuz, Mehmet; Ozdemir, Necati; Baskonus, Haci Mehmet

In this paper, time-fractional partial differential equations (FPDEs) involving singular and non-singular kernel are considered. We have obtained the approximate analytical solution for linear and nonlinear FPDEs using the Laplace perturbation method (LPM) defined with the Liouville-Caputo (LC) and Atangana-Baleanu (AB) fractional operators. The AB fractional derivative is defined with the Mittag-Leffler function and has all the properties of a classical fractional derivative. In addition, the AB operator is crucial when utilizing the Laplace transform (LT) to get solutions of some illustrative problems with initial condition. We show that the mentioned method is a rather effective and powerful technique for solving FPDEs. Besides, we show the solution graphs for different values of fractional order α, distance term x and time value t. The classical integer-order features are fully recovered if α is equal to 1.

Bulut, Hasan; Sulaiman, Tukur Abdulkadir; Erdogan, Fevzi; Mehmet Baskonus, Haci

With the aid of the Wolfram Mathematica software, the powerful sine-Gordon expansion method is used in constructing some new solutions to the two well-known nonlinear models, namely, the simplified modified Camassa-Holm and symmetric regularized long-wave equations. We obtain some novel complex, trigonometric and hyperbolic function solutions to these two equations. We also plot the three-dimensional and two-dimensional graphics for each solutions obtained using the same programming code in Wolfram Mathematica software. Finally, we submit a comprehensive conclusions.

Bulut, Hasan; Sulaiman, Tukur Abdulkadir; Baskonus, Haci Mehmet

In this study, with the aid of the Wolfram Mathematica software, the powerful sine-Gordon expansion method is utilized to search for the solutions to some important nonlinear mathematical models arising in nonlinear sciences, namely, the (2 + 1) -dimensional Zakharov-Kuznetsov modified equal width equation, the cubic Boussinesq equation and the modified regularized long wave equation. We successfully obtain some new soliton, singular soliton, singular periodic waves and kink-type solutions with complex hyperbolic structures to these equations. We also present the two- and three-dimensional shapes of all the solutions obtained in this study. We further give the physical meaning of all the obtained solutions. We compare our results with the existing results in the literature.
