High Entropy Materials for CO2 Conversion

Simsek, Telem; Guler, Seval H.; Guler, Omer; Simsek, Tuncay

Metal-based oxides, ceramics, and composite catalysts are commonly used for CO2 conversion. To increase the efficiency of these catalysts, strategies such as heterostructure, defect engineering, nanolayers, mesoporous structure development, and oxygen vacancy engineering are used. In recent years, highly stable high entropy alloys (HEAs), which include at least five different elements in equimolar or nearly equimolar ratios, have recently come to be recognized as promising CO2 conversion catalysts. Their unique properties enable enhanced reactivity and selectivity, making them highly valuable in addressing CO2 emissions and climate change challenges. When several elements are included in a catalyst, surface microstructures with different atomic configurations and active catalytic sites are produced. As a result, different adsorption modes arise for reactants and intermediates. In addition, the mixing of metal elements in varying atomic ratios causes changes in the electronic structure of metals. The distinct catalytic characteristics of HEAs are a result of modifications to their electronic structure brought on by lattice stretching, distortion, and compositional alterations.

Adaptive AI and Interactive Narrative Possibilities in Media

    Deniz, Kemal

This chapter examines the influence of advancements in adaptive artificial intelligence (AI) on interactive narrative solutions in both current media and emerging communication environments that are expected to gain significance in the future. This study explores the potential benefits of integrating narratives and adaptive AI into a communication process that involves human-machine interaction. The objective of this chapter is to focus on interactive and autonomous narration to understand the capabilities of new narrative structures that can incorporate AI technology across many media platforms, ranging from television to the metaverse.

Metaverse and New Narrative: Storyliving in the Age of Metaverse

    Deniz, Kemal

Today, technology continues to develop rapidly. As in many fields, innovations are emerging that will change the social, cultural, and economic relations that affect people’s daily lives. The process, which started with the opening of the door of the virtual world, which is said to be more advanced than ever, with VR, seems to reach a new dimension with the introduction of the concept of the metaverse. In addition to the innovations and effects it will bring in all other economic and financial related processes such as Cryptocoin, NFT, blockchain, Web3, the metaverse will also reveal a new narrative paradigm. It will be important to consider the narrative form in the metaverse era, which can be seen as an upshift of innovations from digital storytelling to the interactive narrative that emerged with the digital transformation. It is also important to consider the grand comprehensiveness of the metanarrative regarding the whole, the specificity of the narrative in the metaverse about each subject or object, and how this will be reflected in the big picture. As stated, in the metaverse era, how will the transition of the narrative to the storyliving stage rather than storytelling affect or result in the ontology of the processes of creating a narrative, conveying it through a medium, and being experienced by individuals? This study will be research on the concept of the metaverse and the questioning of the narrative concerning the social, cultural, and economic fields transformed by technology.

Use of FAHP for occupational safety risk assessment: An application in the aluminum extrusion industry

    Gul, Muhammet; Guneri, Ali Fuat

Risk is dened as relating to a technical or sociotechnical system in which events may take place in the future that have unwanted consequences to assets that we want to protect (Rausand, 2011). The rst stage in controlling risks is to perform a risk assessment in order to see what is required to be done (Health and Safety Executive, 1998). This includes identifying hazards, deciding the harmfulness of them, evaluating all possible risks, reducing them, and recording the results, respectively (Health and Safety Executive, 1998; Main, 2004; Gul and Guneri, 2016). The plentifulness in risk assessment.
