Cimen, Murat; Topcu, Hakan
The data were collected from 20 Turkish Saanen goats raised in Ismailli village of Tunceli Province during first four weeks of postpartum period. In the research, 10 goats having BCS 1 and 10 goats having BCS 2 were used. The dams in BCS 1 group had showed lower milk fat content as compared to dams in BCS 2 group until third week. The total solids and protein levels of goats did not differ between BCS 1 and BCS 2 groups during all weeks of research We found positive high correlations between total solids and protein (r=0.997; p<0.01) in BCS 1 group and BCS2 group (r=0.9998; p<0.01) Similar correlations were found for both BCS group in study. From our results, the lower BCS has negative significant influence on the milk fat synthesis for dams having low fat depots. (c) 2013 Friends Science Publishers

Yildirim, Numan; Yildiz, Abdunnasir
Biodelignification of cotton stalk (CS) by Pleurotus eryngii collected from Tunceli and Elazig province of Turkey under solid state fermentation (SSF) was studied. The effect of the addition of varying concentration (5 & 10% w/w) of rice bran (RB) on lignin degradation and Carbon/Nitrogen (C/N) ratio were investigated. Klason lignin (KL) degradation was followed for 140 day. While substrate initially contained 28.66% KL, maximum lignin loss (69.68+/-1.05%), occurred on CS +5% RB, C/N ratio of non-fermented cotton stalk initially was 34.13+/-4.98% and after incubation this ratio decreased to 18.60+/-0.36% on CS without RB. It was concluded that P. eryngii strain collected from Tunceli province is very effective in delignifying cotton stalk. (C) 2011 Friends Science Publishers

Yildirim, Nuran Cikcikoglu; Yildirim, Numan; Kaplan, Olcay; Tayhan, Nilgun
This study explored the chemical and microbiological contamination of drinking water from eight towns in Tunceli, Turkey Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and epichloridine were extracted by liquid solid extraction and analyzed by using HPLC, volatile organics were analyzed by GC-MS and acrylamide was analyzed by GC Escherichia coli and total conform detection followed a membrane filtration method Enterococci were detected and numerated by membrane filtration method Most commonly found chemical pollutants were benzene, benzo[a]pyrene (BaP), 1-2 dichloroethane, epichloridine, tetrachloroethane, trihalomethane and acrylamide E coli, total conform and enterococci were also found in the drinking water Our results indicate that generally chemical and microbiological contaminations were found below the guidelines for drinking waters given by the World Health Organization, because of the fact that in the sampling area there is not any contaminating source So, according to results these water samples are fit for drinking (C) 2010 Friends Science Publishers

Cetin, Mustafa; Cimen, Murat; Goksoy, Ergun Omer; Kirkan, Sukru; Yildirim, Saadettin
This study was aimed at determination of biochemical components of machine milked and suckled goat milk associated with pecuniary profit in the 1(st) and 2(nd) weeks of early lactation period. For this purpose, 10 machine-milked and 10 suckled Turkish Saanen Goats were used. The milk fat rate was lower in machine milked goats than in suckled goats for both the periods. The protein levels were lower for 2(nd) week in machine milked goats compared with suckled goats. There was no difference (p>0.05) between the two groups of goats for total nitrogen. It was concluded that suckling improves fat in goat milk, which makes it more profitable. (C) 2010 Friends Science Publishers
