- MakaleYalnız künye2022ESSENTIAL OIL COMPOSITION OF ENDEMIC Hypericum ekerii FROM TURKEY AND CHEMOTAXONOMIC COMPARISONS
Yuce-Babacan, Ebru; Demirpolat, Azize
In our study, chemotaxonomic comparisons and essential oil composition of Hypericum ekeriNtice&Aytac (Hypericaceae) endemic to Turkey was studied for the first time. The composition of the essential oils of Hypericum ekerii was investigated and 45compounds were determined in total. GC and GC-MS analysis result showed a-pinene 18.73%, limonene 7.28%, caryophyllene oxide 6.71% and b-caryophyllene 6.47% as the majorcomponents. Based on the major chemical components, clusterinvestigated was applied for all the Hypericum species on Drosanthesection studied. With H. ekerii and all Drosanthesection species were grouped based on the presence of a specific compound and a dendrogram was created, and this section grouped the species into clusters. The chemical distribution of essential oil compounds in the genus pattern were discussed in means of natural products, major components and chemotaxonomy.
- MakaleAçık Erişim2020Scopus SJRQ3ANTI-UREASE, TOTAL PHENOLIC CONTENT AND ANTIOXIDANT ACTIVITIES OF SOME Inula L. (ASTERACEAE) TAXA IN TURKEY
Sevindik, Emre; Aydin, Sinem; Paksoy, Mehmet Yavuz; Sokmen, Bahar Bilgin
The genus Inula belongs to family Asteraceae and it is medicinally important because it possesses cytotoxic, anticancer, hepatoprotective, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. The aim of this research was to explore antioxidant and anti-urease activities of fifteen Inula taxa in Turkey. Ethanol extracts of Inula taxa were obtained by Soxhlet extraction. Antioxidant activity was determined through total antioxidant activity, total phenolic content and copper reducing antioxidant capacity (CUPRAC) analyses. The highest total phenolic content and total antioxidant capacity were found in I. orientalis (158.54±0.002 µg GAE/mL) and I. macrocephala (189.16±0.002 µg AAE/mL). CUPRAC activity increases with the increasing concentration of the extracts and the standard. Moreover, all the tested plants exhibited better anti-urease activity than standard thiourea except for I. anatolica and I. thapsoides subsp. thapsoides. Results obtained from this study demonstrate that Inula species might be utilized as a probable natural source in the pharmaceutical and food industries but further and more specific studies are needed to determine active antioxidative and anti-urease compounds in the extracts.

- MakaleYalnız künye2017Scopus SJRQ2The anatomical and micromorphological properties of three endemic and medicinal Salvia species (Lamiaceae) in Erzincan (Turkey)
Polat, R.; Cakilcioglu, U.; Selvi, S.; Türkmen, Z.; Kandemir, A.
In this study, we comparatively investigated three endemic Salvia species spreading in Erzincan (Turkey) in terms of anatomy and micromorphology. For anatomical investigation, cross sections taken from stems and leaves of the species were examined under light microscope. For micromorphological investigation, epidermal surface and nutlet structure were examined using scanning electron microscopy. The S. euphratica and S. divaricata species were examined anatomically and micromorphologically for the first time, and S. hypargea was examined micromorphologically for the first time. In anatomical examinations, it was seen that stem and leaf structures of the species were similar. In micromorphological analyses, it has been seen that hairiness of the nutlet surface and nutlet ornamentations (verrucate and rugose type) created a difference between the species.

In this study, morphological, morphometrical, karyological and detailed pollen morphology of Ebenus haussknechtii endemic to Turkey was studied for the first time. In the morphologic study, some morphological and morphometrical features of the plant were observed and compared with the published findings in the Flora of Turkey. Karyogram and idiograms of the plant were also prepared. The chromosome number of E. haussknechtii was determined as 2n = 14 and haploid karyotype formula 5 m + 1 sm + 1M. Metaphase chromosome length ranged from 2.16 to 1.93 mu m and the total haploid chromosome length was 17.90 mu m. The results of the light microscope investigation of the pollen revealed that the pollen grains were radially symmetrical, isopolar, tricolpate and prolate. Measurement of the reticulum heterobrachate indicated their ornamentation to be reticulate. (C) 2014 Elsevier GmbH. All rights reserved.
