Ayrıca, Pohlia wahlenbergii'den elde edilen özütlerin çeşitli patojen mikroorganizmalara karşı in vitro antimikrobiyal potansiyeli değerlendirilmiştir.

This study explores the phytochemical composition and antimicrobial potential of Palustriella commutata, Philonotis calcarea, Cinclidotus riparius, Rhynchostegium riparioides, Plagiomnium ellipticum, and Porella platyphylla, with a focus on bryophyte species phenolic constituents and biological activities. HPLC analysis identified seven phenolic acids (4-hydroxybenzoic acid, 2,5-dihydroxybenzoic acid, 3,4-dihydroxybenzoic acid, caffeic acid, vanillic acid, syringic acid, and p-coumaric acid) across all species in varying concentrations. In in vitro antimicrobial tests, the bryophyte extracts used showed significant activity against Pseudomonas aeruginosa (ATCC 9027), while exhibiting relatively lower inhibition against Staphylococcus aureus (ATCC 25923). The study showed that all species extracts exhibited comparable activity to erythromycin against P. aeruginosa, while Cinclidotus riparius and Plagiomnium ellipticum extracts showed no activity against S. aureus, and the remaining species exhibited lower activity compared to erythromycin. Molecular docking studies demonstrated strong binding affinities of these phenolics to the active site of the target macromolecule (PDB ID: 3FRQ), suggesting meaningful interactions with residues such as ARG122 and ASN123, similar to erythromycin binding patterns. The findings indicate that bryophyte-derived phenolic compounds possess significant antimicrobial potential and may serve as promising candidates for the development of novel bioactive agents. This study provides a broad framework for the insufficiently researched antimicrobial potential of bryophytes by establishing direct links between species-specific phenolic fingerprints, experimentally observed antibacterial activities, and predicted receptor-level interactions. Further complementary biological studies are needed to confirm and expand upon these results.

Hedenäs, previously known only from Çanakkale, and the arctic-alpine moss Cyrtomnium hymenophylloides (Hübener) T.J.Kop., previously known only from Ordu province, were rediscovered in Türkiye. Scorpidium cossonii was collected on wet rocky bank near the Ciğer Lake (Çan-Çanakkale) in 2014. Cyrtomnium hymenophylloides was collected on wet soil in Kalıcak and Kadıncık Villages (Ulubey-Ordu) in 2014. Ten years later, both species were found the vicinity of Karagöl and Çiniligöl (Ulukışla-Niğde), glacial lakes located in the Central Anatolian part of the Bolkar Mountains. Scorpidium cossonii and Cyrtomnium hymenophylloides were recorded for the second time from Türkiye and Southwest Asia with the present study. While, Scorpidium cossonii is characterised by strongly curved non-plicate leaves and well developed hyalodermis, Cyrtomnium hymenophylloides is characterised erect tuft life form, broadly ovate leaves, acute to apiculate leaf apices. These new locality records will provide important information about the geographical distribution of the both species in Anatolia and will contribute to the bryophyte flora of Türkiye. Abstract: In this study, the epiphytic bryophyte vegetation of the Karçal Mountains (Artvin) in the Caucasus Region was investigated. Relevés collected from living tree trunks during various vegetation periods in 2022 were analyzed using the Braun-Blanquet method and multivariate analysis techniques. As a result, Anomodontetum attenuati-Ulotetosum crispae subass. nov. was described and characterised as a new epiphytic syntaxa. In addition, Orthotrichetum rupestris, Orthotrichetum speciosi, Uloto crispae-Orthotrichetum striati, and Anomodonto viticulosi-Leucodontetum sciuroidis-Anomodontetosum attenuati were determined for the first time in Türkiye. All syntaxa were presented by analyzing them in terms of their ecological and floristical classifications.

In this study, the moss flora of Fırat University Central Campus was investigated. As a result of the identification of moss specimens collected from syudy area in different vegetation periods of 2021 and 2023, total of 37 taxa belonging to 8 families and 19 genera were determined. From these taxa, 11 for Elazıg province and 6 for B9 grid square according to the grid-square system of Henderson (1961) are new records. The rich families in terms of number of taxa are Pottiaceae (17), Bryaceae (6) and Orthotrichaceae (5). In addition, the most taxa within the floristic list are xerophyt, photophyt and subneutrophyt.

In this study, antioxidant, fatty acid, mineral analysis and some chemical properties of Polytrichum piliferum, a species of moss, were investigated. As a result of the research, it was determined that P. piliferum extract had a moderate effect in terms of antioxidant properties and total phenolic content. Regarding fatty acid compositions, oleic and palmitic acids were found to be high. As a result of mineral analysis, it was found that it could accumulate high levels of aluminum (Al), iron (Fe), calcium (Ca) and potassium (K).
