Background: Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a multisystem disease primarily affecting the lungs. It impacts physical fitness due to increased bronchial secretions and exercise intolerance. Inspiratory muscle training (IMT) is recommended as a pulmonary rehabilitation approach. Therefore, we aimed to examine the effect of inspiratory muscle training on health-related physical fitness in CF. Methods: Articles were searched in five databases from inception to June 2025. All randomized controlled trials comparing IMT with a control group in individuals with cystic fibrosis were included. Four randomized controlled trials involving a total of 90 individuals with CF met the inclusion criteria. Results: A significant difference was found in the change in maximal work capacity, maximal minute ventilation, and exercise duration during the exercise test in the IMT group compared to the control group. However, no significant difference was observed in the change in maximal oxygen uptake, 6-minute walk test distance, and oxygen saturation during the 6-minute walk test between the IMT group and the control group. Conclusion: The therapeutic effectiveness of IMT for physical fitness is still uncertain. The evidence is not enough to assess how IMT can be used to enhance health-related physical fitness in CF. Further research should explore the optimal intensity and duration of IMT training needed to improve cardiorespiratory fitness. Additionally, future studies should evaluate how effective IMT is when examining its impact on health-related physical fitness.
- MakaleYalnız künye2010Scopus SJRQ3The effects of commercial diets supplemented with mannanoligosaccharide (MOS) and vitamin B12 on the growth and body composition of the shabbout fries (Tor grypus H. 1843)
Atar, Hasan Huseyin; Ates, Mehmet
Four hundred shabbout fries (Tor grypus L. 1758), with average initial weight of 0.95+/-0.02 g and total average length of 4.10+/-0.05 cm, were fed for a period of 90 days commercial feed with addition of mannanoligosaccharide (MOS) and vitamin B-12. The shabbouts were divided into four different groups and fed by different feeds (Control, Group A with MOS, Group B with vitamin B-12, Group C with the combination of MOS + vitamin B-12). The effects of feeding through MOS and vitamin B-12 in different proportions on growth in view of live weight and total length, survival rate, feed conversion, condition factor and protein efficacy were studied. The best growth in view of live weight of 4.51+/-0.16 g and length of 7.71+/-0.08 cm was maintained through vitamin B-12 in Group B. As a consequence, the growth parameters of the shabbout fries fed through commercial feeds with the addition of MOS and vitamin B-12 in different doses under empirical conditions showed affirmative effects on the survival rate, feed assessment, condition factor and protein efficacy.

Atar, Hasan Huseyin; Ates, Mehmet
Four hundred carp fries (Cyprinus carpio L. 1758) with average initial weight of 1.1 +/- 0.05 g and total average length of 4.04 +/- 0.04 cm, was fed for a period of 90 days with the addition of commercial feed Mannanoligosaccharide (MOS) and vitamin B-12. The carps were divided into four different groups and fed through different feeds (Control; group A with MOS, group B with vitamin B-12, group C with a the combination of MOS + vitamin B-12). The effects of feeding through MOS and vitamin B-12 in different proportions on the parameters such as growth in view of live weight and total length, survival rate, feed conversion, condition factor and protein efficacy for the carp fries was studied. The best growth in view of live weight was maintained through MOS and vitamin B-12 combination in group C (4.51 +/- 0.13 g), while the best growth in terms of length was obtained through MOS in group A (6.68 +/- 0.08 cm). As a consequence, the growth parameters of the carp fries fed through commercial feeds with the addition of MOS and vitamin B-12 in different doses under empirical conditions shown affirmative effects on the survival rate, feed assessment, condition factor and protein efficacy.
