Cemevi or sacred space (jiar)? "holy" forms of space ın dersim

The debates on Alevi communities have become more popular with increasing political and academic views, publications in Turkey. "Alevi Awakening" is the key word which refers to popular topics in debates which are about the history of Alevism, ethno-cultural differentiates between local Alevi communities, diaspora of Alevism and mostly the Cemevis. In this essay, beliefs and rituals of the holy places, which are the signifi cant property of Dersim Alevism, are being analyzed with ethnographic data. Thus, new perspectives could be reviewed about debates of political and religious roles of Cemevis.
