Özet

In Türkiye administrative divisions are regulated by laws according to constitutional criteria, including geographical conditions, economic circumstances, and public service requirements, and are implemented through regulations. A concrete example is the 1986 ‘Regulation on Appointment, Evaluation and Relocation of Territorial Administrators’ which classifies provinces and districts based on social, cultural, geographical, and economic characteristics. This study examines class changes made through official communiqués amending the regulation, focusing on their administrative, geographical, socio-economic, and demographic potential impacts, while highlighting the importance of administrative division principles at the intersection of territorial administration and administrative geography.
