Functionalized and Ag-Loaded Nano-Delivery System for Doxorubicin: Loading, Controlled Release and Kinetic Studies

Aydogdu, Burcu; Kaplan Ince, Olcay; Ince, Muharrem; Unal, Ilkay

Multi-walled carbon nanotubes (fMWCNTs) that functionalized and loaded Ag nanoparticles (AgNPs) were investigated to adsorp doxorubicin hydrochloride (DXR). DXR release behavior efficiency was determined using kinetic studies. DXR agent was treated into fMWCNTs@AgNPs material with different drug loading rates. The material was successfully established and characterized using transmission electron microscopy, and fourier transform–infrared spectroscopy. Thermogravimetric analysis was performed to elucidate the effect of temperature on mass loss and X-ray diffraction analysis was systematically assessed the crystalline state of DXR. Various kinetic models including Higuchi, Baker Hixson-Crowell, and power-law were applied. It was revealed that DXR has more binding affinity to the fMWCNTs@AgNPs material system surface as a nanocarrier at pH 7.4 and showed more release at pH 5.0. Functionalized material confirmed its efficiency as pH-based drug delivery system. Used material can be utilized as promising nanocarriers, and findings will contribute to the rational design of novel delivery tools for drugs.

Green synthesis of cobalt-oxide nanoparticles with an endemic species Allium tuncelianum and anticancer activity

    Aslan Korkmaz, Şengül

The green synthesis method used to synthesize Co3O4-NPs has attracted numerous advantages due to its low cost, less time and energy consume, no need of special instruments for experimental and more eco-friendly with environment. In this study, the Co3O4-NPs were synthesized by green synthesis method to overcome the toxicity of chemical synthesis. And Allium tuncelianum plant which is an endemic species in Tunceli was used as a reducing agent and Co(NO3)2.6H2O as a source of cobalt. The synthesized Co3O4-NPs were characterized by using FTIR, XRD, SEM and HR-TEM techniques. The XRD pattern was shown that the Co-NPs were face-centered cubic (fcc) of crystalline nature and the average crystallite size was found nearly 23 nm with a value of COD(R^2): 0.982. The Co3O4-NPs generally had a spherical shape in the SEM images taken at 200 nm. The Co3O4-NPs showed low IC50 value against HeLa cells compare with RPE normal cells.

New dinuclear cyanido complexes with amine alcohol ligand: Synthesis, characterization and biotechnological application potential

    Korkmaz, N.; Korkmaz, Ş.A.; Ceylan, Y.; İmamoğlu, R.; Bülbül, A.S.; Karadağ, A.

In this study, the cyanido complexes given by the formula [Ni(Abut)Ni(CN)4 ]·8H2 O (C1), [Cu(Abut)2 Ni(CN)4 ]·7H2 O (C2), [Zn(Abut)Ni(CN)4 ]·8H2 O (C3) and [Cd(Abut)Ni(CN)4 ]·7H2 O (C4) were ob-tained by microwave synthesis method. The powder forms of the complexes were characterized by elemental, FT-IR spectroscopy, and thermal analysis. And also antibacterial, antibiofilm and anticancer activities were investigated. The splitting stretching bands of cyanido groups in the FT-IR spectra of C1-C4 indicated the assets of terminal and end cyanido groups. The antibacterial activities of C1-C4 were tested with nine Gram negative and six Gram positive bacteria. The most efficient antibacterial activity of complexes was observed at 1000 µg/ml-1 concentration. Anticancer activity was tested using HeLa cell line and MTT test. The studied cyanide complexes have been shown to decrease the viability of HeLa cells with IC50 values 14.86, 6.5, 7.2 and 19.2 µg/ml for C1, C2, C3 and C4 complex, respectively.

Binuclear cyanido complexes containing [Pt(CN)4]2- building block: Synthesis, crystal structures, magnetic properties and anticancer activities

Korkmaz, Sengul Asian; Karadag, Ahmet; Aydin, Ali; Yerli, Yusuf; Soylu, Mustafa Serkan

Five new complexes of composition [Ni(N-bishydeten)Pt(CN)(4)] (1), [Ni(N-bishydeten)(2)][Pt(CN)(4)] (2), [Cu (N-bishydeten)Pt(CN)(4)] (3), [Cu(N-bishydeten)(2)][Pt(CN)(4)] (4) and [Cd(N-bishydeten)(2)][Pt(CN)(4)] (5) (N-bishydeten = N,N-bis(2-hydroxyethyl)-ethylenediamine) have been obtained and characterized by IR and EPR spectroscopies, elemental and thermal analysis and magnetic measurements. X-ray studies of 2 and 3 exhibited different structures and two different coordination modes of N-bishydeten ancillary ligand with a ratio of M:L. While N-bishydeten acts as a tetradentate with N', N', O and O' atoms in a molar ratio of 1:1 formed 2,2-CT-type zigzag chain for 3, it behaves tridentate ligand by ending up with six coordinated Ni-II center in a complex salt by using 1:2 M ratio for 2. None of the 1 and 3 complexes produced in this study showed sufficient anticancer activity but all did exhibit apoptotic properties and one of them also performed low cytotoxic activity against cell tested.
