Vocational School Students' Attitudes Towards Internet

Tuncer, Murat; Dogan, Yunus; Tanas, Ramazan; Isman, A; Siraj, S; Kiyici, M

Internet is shown among the main ways of learning in many recent research findings. Many masses like personnel and students prefer meeting their need for obtaining knowledge with internet above all. This positive impact of internet on learning can be better increased with the determination and direction of various psychological perceptions of the learners'. One of these psychological traits is attitude towards Internet. In this study, 265 undergraduate students', from various departments of Tunceli Vocational School of Tunceli University, attitudes towards internet were investigated. The Attitude Towards Internet Scale was used as the data collection instrument. The opinions gathered with the application of the scale were compared in terms of gender, grade, experience of computer education, age and field of study variables. Some of the findings are as following: the attitude towards internet does not differentiate meaningfully in terms of gender and grade variables; whereas there is a meaningful difference of opinions in terms of the field of study variable. EXAMINATION OF RADIAL FORCE WITH FINITE ELEMENT METHOD IN SWITCHED RELUCTANCE MOTOR

Polat, Mehmet; Öksüztepe, Eyyup; Omaç, Zeki; Yildirim, Merve; Kürüm, Hasan

The aim of this study is computation of radial forces shown as one of the main and important reasons of noise in Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM). In this paper, radial forces in saturation and unsaturation regions of a standart submersible pump type 8/6-pole SRM have been calculated and their changes have been obtained. ANSYS 10.0 package program which makes a solution with Finite Element Method (FEM) has been used for computation of radial forces. After geometric shapes are given, radial forces have been calculated from unaligned position of rotor towards aligned position with angle of one degree according to different current values.

The Solutions of Partial Differential Equations with Variable Coefficient by Sumudu Transform Method

Bulut, Hasan; Baskonus, H. Mehmet; Tuluce, Seyma; Sivasundaram, S

In this paper, we studied to obtain numerical solutions of partial differential equations with variable coefficient by Sumudu Transform Method (STM). We applied to three examples this method. Then, we ploted 2D and 3D graphics of these equations by means of programming language Mathematica. In order to solve these differential equations which is ordinary and partial, the integral transforms such as the Laplace, Hankel and Fourier were unusually used and therefore there are several works on literature and applications of them. But it has few been given by using STM. And thus, in recent years STM has been an important places in applied sciences such as especially engineering, physics, physical sciences. Moreover, it is important for solving ordinary and partial differential equations which is linear and nonlinear.

PERFORMANCE EVALUATION OF TURKISH RETAIL FIRMS USING THE FUZZY AHP, PROMETHEE, ELECTRE AND VIKOR METHODS

Bölükbas, Ufuk; Çelik, Erkan; Güneri, Ali Fuat; Kahraman, C; Kerre, EE; Bozbura, FT

The performance evaluation of firms determines capabilities of firms to compete in the sector and has a critical importance for the development of the sector. In this study, a fuzzy multi-criteria decision model is proposed to evaluate the performances of retail firms. The eight Turkish retail firms are analyzed and firms are evaluated in terms of ten different financial ratios in six separate groups. Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (FAHP), Preference Ranking Organization Method for Enrichment Evaluation (PROMETHEE), Elimination Et Choix Traduisant la Realit (ELECTRE) and Multicriteria Optimization and Compromise Solution (VIKOR) methods are integrated in the proposed model. A hierarchical model of financial performance evaluation is structured by the decision makers. FAHP is used to determine the weights of the criteria. These criteria weights and financial ratio values are input to the PROMETHEE, ELECTRE and VIKOR method to rank the firms. The rankings of methods are compared to each other's in the conclusion.

CONTROL OF FLOW AROUND A SQUARE PRISM BY USING SYNTHETIC JET

Akansu, Yahya Erkan; Firat, Erhan; Vit, T; Dancova, P

Control of the flow around a square prism by means of synthetic jet through a single slot located on middle of upper surface of the model has been investigated experimentally for Reynolds number of 8000. Synthetic jet was implemented by using a pneumatic piston-cylinder which was driven by means of an electrical motor. The frequency and stroke of the piston were changed to obtain various values of the flow control parameters. For various excitation frequency and momentum coefficients of the synthetic jet, the mean and fluctuating pressure distributions on the square prism were measured. The velocity measurements at the slot exit and at a specific coordinate were conducted by means of constant temperature anemometer (CTA). Vortex shedding frequencies obtained by the spectral analysis of both pressure-time and velocity-time history. At a value of synthetic jet excitation frequency, vortex pairs generated at slot were perturbed the shear layer that separated from the upper leading edge of square model and disturbs it. When the synthetic jet excitation frequency closes enough to the vortex shedding frequency, the lock-in of vortex shedding frequency onto the exciting frequency was occurred. On the other hand, increasing excitation frequency of the synthetic jet causes a pressure recovery on the surface of the prism within the wake region. The efficiency of the synthetic jet is classified depending on change of the drag coefficient and vortex shedding frequency.

The associations between university students' transformational leadership characteristics and dysfunctional limitedness perceptions

Barut, Yasar; Gokalp, Murat; Akdenk, Mursel; Kalafat, Temel; Mentese, Sabit; Keser, H; Ozcinar, Z; Kanbul, S

The aim of this study was to explore associations between transformational leadership and limitedness schemas of university students. Data were collected from 66 male (34.2%) and 127 females (65.8%), a total of 193 university students. The minimum age was 17 and the maximum age was 23. The mean age of the sample was 19.62 years with a standard deviation of 1.21. The results reveal that females have higher scores than males with regard to transformational leadership characteristics. Comparison of the differences between male and female subjects in terms of limitedness orientation showed that males reported higher scores than females on limitedness schemas. In addition, limitedness about relations and limitedness about the world were significantly associated with transactional leadership and a laissez-faire philosophy, but connections of dysfunctional limitedness schemas with transformational leadership were not significant.
