Although the westward extrusion of the Anatolian Block is mainly compensated along its boundary faults, the North Anatolian and the East Anatolian shear zones, it is internally deformed in a dominant manner by some strike-slip faults as well. To obtain a better understanding about this intraplate deformation of the Anatolian Block, we investigate the tectonic geomorphology of the Ovaak Fault (OF), which is the northeastern member of the Malatya-Ovaak Fault Zone (MOFZ). Further, we apply the most common geomorphic indices, such as the hypsometric curve and integral, longitudinal channel profiles, channel steepness and concavity, mountain front sinuosity, and valley height-width ratio to characterise and quantify the deformation along the OF and the surrounding region where the regional morphology is shaped with the joint effect of palaeo- and neotectonics and other morphological factors such as palaeoglacial processes. The highest hypsometric integral, steepness and concavity values are generally observed along the northeastern strand of the OF (the Munzur Mountains) and the Kemaliye Region. Further, we interpret that high HI and steepness values indicate a regional tectonic uplift because of either a change in fault geometry, which gives rise to the vertical component on the OF, or a regional high convergence zone. Furthermore, this study gives the first calculation of vertical uplift in the northern margin of the Ovacik Basin (OB) as at least 0.5 mm/y for long term deformation history. Thus, our results exhibit that the OF is one of the intraplate strike-slip faults of the Anatolian Block. (C) 2018 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Effects of chronic exposure to alpha and gamma iron oxide nanoparticles (alpha-Fe2O3 and gamma-Fe2O3 NPs) were investigated through exposure of tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) to 0.1, 0.5 and 1.0 mg/L (9.2 x 10(-4), 4.6 x 10(-3) and 9.2 x 10(-3) mM) aqueous suspensions for 60 days. Fish were then transferred to NP-free freshwater and allowed to eliminate ingested NPs for 30 days. The organs, including gills, liver, kidney, intestine, brain, spleen, and muscle tissue of the fish were analyzed to determine the accumulation, physiological distribution and elimination of the Fe2O3 NPs. Largest accumulation occurred in spleen followed by intestine, kidney, liver, gills, brain and muscle tissue. Fish exposed to gamma-Fe2O3 NPs possessed significantly higher Fe in all organs. Accumulation in spleen was fast and independent of NP concentration reaching to maximum levels by the end of the first sampling period (30th day). Dissolved Fe levels in water were very negligible ranging at 4-6 mu g/L for alpha-Fe2O3 and 17-21 mu g/L for gamma-Fe2O3 NPs (for 1 mg/L suspensions). Despite that, Fe levels in gills and brain reflect more dissolved Fe accumulation from metastable gamma-Fe2O3 polymorph. Ingested NPs cleared from the organs completely within 30-day elimination period, except the liver and spleen. Liver contained about 31% of alpha- and 46% of gamma-Fe2O3, while spleen retained about 62% of alpha- and 35% of the gamma-polymorph. No significant disturbances were observed in hematological parameters, including hemoglobin, hematocrit, red blood cell and white blood cell counts (p > 0.05). Serum glucose (GLU) levels decreased in treatments exposed to 1.0 mg/L of gamma-Fe2O3 NPs at day 30 (p < 0.05). In contrast, GLU levels increased during the elimination period for 1.0 mg/L alpha-Fe2O3 NPs treatments (p < 0.05). Transient increases occurred in glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase (GOT), glutamic pyruvic transaminase (GPT), and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH). Serum Fe levels did not change during exposure (p > 0.05), but increased significantly within elimination period due to mobilization of ingested NPs from liver and spleen to blood. Though respiratory burst activity was not affected (p > 0.05), lysozyme activity (LA) was suppressed suggesting an immunosuppressive effects from both Fe2O3 NPs (p < 0.05). In contrast, myeloperoxidase (MPO) levels increased significantly in treatments exposed to alpha-Fe2O3 NPs (p < 0.05), and the effect from gamma-polymorph was marginal (p > 0.05). The results indicate that morphological differences of Fe2O3 NPs could induce differential uptake, assimilation and immunotoxic effects on O. niloticus under chronic exposure. (C) 2016 Elsevier B.V. Tuncer, Murat; Dogan, Yunus; Tanas, Ramazan; Isman, A; Siraj, S; Kiyici, M
Internet is shown among the main ways of learning in many recent research findings. Many masses like personnel and students prefer meeting their need for obtaining knowledge with internet above all. This positive impact of internet on learning can be better increased with the determination and direction of various psychological perceptions of the learners'. One of these psychological traits is attitude towards Internet. In this study, 265 undergraduate students', from various departments of Tunceli Vocational School of Tunceli University, attitudes towards internet were investigated. The Attitude Towards Internet Scale was used as the data collection instrument. The opinions gathered with the application of the scale were compared in terms of gender, grade, experience of computer education, age and field of study variables. Some of the findings are as following: the attitude towards internet does not differentiate meaningfully in terms of gender and grade variables; whereas there is a meaningful difference of opinions in terms of the field of study variable. We construct self-dual (SD) but not locally conformally flat (LCF) metrics on families of non-simply connected 4-manifolds with small signature. We construct various sequences with bounded or unbounded Betti numbers and Euler characteristic. These metrics have negative scalar curvature. As an application, this is used to address Remark 4.79 of [1]. (C) 2012 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

This study aimed to determine the existence and distribution of certain neuropeptides in endocrine and exocrine pancreas of the long-legged buzzard by using immunohistochemical methods. SOM-14-, NPY- and CGRP-IR endocrine cells were determined in both central and peripheral regions in A-islets within the pancreas, while SP-IR endocrine cells were found only in the central region, and CCK-8- and galanin-IR endocrine cells were only detected in peripheral region. On the other hand, in B-islets; SP-, NPY- and CGRP-IR endocrine cells were determined in both central and peripheral regions, while SOM-14- CCK-8- and galanin-IR endocrine cells were found only in the peripheral region. In addition; SOM-14-, NPY-, CGRP-. CCK-8- and galanin-IR cells were also observed in exocrine pancreas. This distribution pattern in the pancreas of the long-legged buzzard demonstrates that neuropeptides perform their probable affects through endocrine and/or paracrine mechanisms. In conclusion, the existence and distribution of neuropeptides in the pancreas of long-legged buzzard have been introduced in this study for the first time and this bird species has also been found to differ from other types of avian species. - BildiriAçık Erişim2010The associations between university students' transformational leadership characteristics and dysfunctional limitedness perceptions
Barut, Yasar; Gokalp, Murat; Akdenk, Mursel; Kalafat, Temel; Mentese, Sabit; Keser, H; Ozcinar, Z; Kanbul, S
The aim of this study was to explore associations between transformational leadership and limitedness schemas of university students. Data were collected from 66 male (34.2%) and 127 females (65.8%), a total of 193 university students. The minimum age was 17 and the maximum age was 23. The mean age of the sample was 19.62 years with a standard deviation of 1.21. The results reveal that females have higher scores than males with regard to transformational leadership characteristics. Comparison of the differences between male and female subjects in terms of limitedness orientation showed that males reported higher scores than females on limitedness schemas. In addition, limitedness about relations and limitedness about the world were significantly associated with transactional leadership and a laissez-faire philosophy, but connections of dysfunctional limitedness schemas with transformational leadership were not significant. - MakaleAçık Erişim2009Scopus SJRQ2Acrylamide concentrations in grilled foodstuffs of Turkish kitchen by high performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry
Kaplan, Olcay; Kaya, Gokce; Ozcan, Cemile; Ince, Muharrem; Yaman, Mehmet
For over ten years, there has been a considerable interest in determination of acrylamide in foodstuffs. It was known that both protein-rich and carbohydrates-rich foods cooked at high-temperatures can cause acrylamide formation. However, carbohydrates-rich foods such as potato chips and biscuit samples have been the common studied foods compared with protein-rich foods such as meat samples. In this study, determination of acrylamide in these two group foods was examined using HPLC-MS. For this purpose, firstly, the parameters that are thought to affect the response in the HPLC-MS analysis were optimized. The optimized conditions were found to be 0.3 ml min(-1) for flow rate of mobile phase, 40 mu l for injection volume, 5 degrees C for column temperature and 70 V for fragmentor potential. The optimized method was applied for the determination of acrylamide levels in Turkish foodstuffs including grilled meat and chicken samples, potato chips, coffee and biscuit. The obtained concentrations for all studied foods were in the range of 20-250 mu g kg(-1). The results showed that acrylamide concentrations highly varied depending on the kind of food samples.
