Yokus, Asif; Baskonus, Haci Mehmet; Sulaiman, Tukur Abdulkadir; Bulut, Hasan
In this study, with the aid of Wolfram Mathematica 11, the modified exp (−Ω(η)) -expansion function method is used in constructing some new analytical solutions with novel structure such as the trigonometric and hyperbolic function solutions to the well-known nonlinear evolutionary equation, namely; the two-component second order KdV evolutionary system. Second, the finite forward difference method is used in analyzing the numerical behavior of this equation. We consider equation (6.5) and (6.6) for the numerical analysis. We examine the stability of the two-component second order KdV evolutionary system with the finite forward difference method by using the Fourier-Von Neumann analysis. We check the accuracy of the finite forward difference method with the help of L2 and L∞ norm error. We present the comparison between the exact and numerical solutions of the two-component second order KdV evolutionary system obtained in this article which and support with graphics plot. We observed that the modified exp (−Ω(η)) -expansion function method is a powerful approach for finding abundant solutions to various nonlinear models and also finite forward difference method is efficient for examining numerical behavior of different nonlinear models.

Cattani, Carlo; Sulaiman, Tukur Abdulkadir; Baskonus, Haci Mehmet; Bulut, Hasan
This study investigates the Nizhnik-Novikov-Veselov and the Drinfel’d-Sokolov systems by using the extended sinh-Gordon equation expansion method. The Nizhnik-Novikov-Veselov system is an isotropic Lax extension of the one-dimensional Korteweg-de Vries equation and the Drinfel’d-Sokolov system is a nonlinear model that possesses some special forms of Lax pairs. Topological kink-type, topological, non-topological, compound topological-non-topological bell-type and singular soliton solutions are successfully constructed. Under the choice of suitable values of parameters, the 2D, 3D and contour graphs to some of the obtained solutions are plotted.

- MakaleYalnız künye2018Scopus SJRQ4400 MHz NMR Study of Isotope Effects on Albumin in H2O/D2O Solutions
Korunur, S.; Zengin, B.; Yılmaz, A.
Abstract: Chemical shift measurements were performed for several percentages of H2O added to D2O, in several H2O/D2O mixtures without and with a single concentration of albumin, and also in a mixture of 0.1H2O/0.9D2O containing increasing concentrations of albumin. The chemical shifts of pure mixtures decreases with increasing fraction of pure water. This is closely related to isotope effects. The chemical shift corrected for isotope effects increases with percentage of H2O. The chemical shift obtained for the mixture of 0.1H2O/0.9D2O increases with increasing concentration of albumin. These increments are consistent with fast chemical exchange in H2O/D2O mixture. In conclusion, present study reveals the presence of isotope effect on albumin in H2O/D2O solutions, and demonstrates fast chemical exchange in D2O solutions with albumin in a different way.

Tumen, Vedat; Yildirim, Ozal; Ergen, Burhan
To develop effective advanced driving assistance systems, it is important to accurately recognize current driving environments and make critical decisions about driving processes. Preventing accidents through the interaction between the driving assistance systems and the environment and ensuring optimum driving dynamics are the main topics in this field. Vehicles need to recognize the road type and quality at a high accuracy to ensure the most suitable driving for the road type. It is also important to use both uncomplicated and cost-effective systems when performing this detection. In this study, a deep learning-based approach that can be used in vehicle driver assistance systems is proposed to automatically recognize road type and quality. Using this approach, it is possible to determine the road type and the quality of the road using only driving images as the input data. A new convolutional neural network model is designed for classification of the driving images. Driving images obtained from Google Street View are used to evaluate the recognition system for an actual driving environment. The proposed approach shows that the road types were determined with accuracy of 91.41 %, and the pothole road–smooth road distinction was successful at 91.07 %. It can be said that the proposed method is an effective structure that can be used for advanced driving support systems, V2I communications systems, and similar intelligent transportation systems.

Hasar, Ugur Cem; Yildiz, Gul; Bute, Musa; Muratoglu, Abdurrahim
In this paper, we investigate a reference-plane invariant (RPI) method for electromagnetic property extraction of bi-axial bianisotropic metamaterial (MM) slabs. In order to obtain unique properties, we applied the frequency varying technique in order to determine the location of the slab within its cell. For validation of the proposed method, we first simulated and then measured scattering parameters of a MM slab constructed by split-ring-resonators, next extracted its electromagnetic properties, and finally compared extracted properties by those retrieved by another method which requires reference-plane information. From the comparison, we noted that whereas our proposed method correctly retrieved electromagnetic properties without knowing the value of reference plane transformation factors, the accuracy of the tested method was seriously influenced by any inaccurate reference plane information.

Seven, Pinar Tatli; Baykalir, Burcu Gül; Seven, Ismail; Ak, Tuba Parlak; Başak, Neşe; Güllüoglu, Hakan
Thirty-six Sprague Dawley male rats were housed in individual cages and randomly divided into six groups: Control, copper sulfate (Cu; 500 ppm body weight (BW)/day), flunixin meglumine (FM; 2.2 ppm BW/day), chrysin (chrysin; 50 ppm BW/day), copper sulfate + FM (Cu + FM; 500 ppm BW/day of copper sulfate and 2.2 ppm BW/day of FM), and copper sulfate + chrysin (Cu + Chrysin; 500 ppm BW/day of copper sulfate and 50 ppm BW/day of chrysin). Feed intake (FI) in the Cu + Chrysin group significantly increased in comparison with that of the Cu group (P < 0.01). Cu excess significantly increased malondialdehyde, indicating oxidative stress. Chrysin and FM administration significantly decreased malondialdehyde levels and increased the superoxide dismutase and catalase activities in the liver and kidney tissues (P < 0.001). Serum TNF-α levels were significantly lower in the Cu + FM and Cu + Chrysin groups in comparison to the Cu group (P < 0.001). It was seen that FM and chrysin treatments alleviated degeneration, necrosis, and apoptosis in the liver and kidney tissues of the Cu-treated rats. Chrysin appeared to ameliorate the adverse effects on FI and liver and kidney tissues by scavenging where the free radicals are located and increasing the activity of antioxidants.

Celik, Fatih; Camas, Mustafa; Kyeremeh, Kwaku; Sazak Camas, Anil
The increasing contamination of soils, sediments, and water with heavy metals through natural and industrial processes is a worldwide problem. Mining processes produce tons of material contaminated with radionuclides such as U and different heavy metals such as Cd, Ni, and Pb. U(VI) adsorbs strongly on bacteria, exhibiting pH-dependent adsorption behavior that is caused by a range of uranyl surface complexes on bacteria cell walls. The Amycolatopsis sp. K47 was isolated from Manisa Koprubasi Kasar open-cast uranium mine and identified for the first time. Using the batch adsorption method, the biosorption potential of this microbe was investigated by studying the effects of changes in pH (1–10), biomass dose (0.1–5 g/l), initial uranium metal concentration (5–200 mg/l), contact time (5–180 min), and temperature (20–60 °C). Interpretation of FTIR data obtained for both the uranium loaded and unloaded Amycolatopsis sp. K47 biomass showed the presence of carboxylic acid, hydroxyl, and amide functional groups that could interact with uranium ions. Scanning electron microscopy images demonstrated that uranium was intensely adsorbed on the microbial biomass surface. The sorption isotherms were investigated by analysis of the Langmuir, Freundlich, and Dubinin–Radushkevich (D–R) models. The Langmuir isotherm model was found to show the best fit for the experimental data obtained. Furthermore, thermodynamic parameters, such as ΔH°, ΔS°, and ΔG°, were calculated using adsorption equilibrium constant obtained from the Langmuir isotherm. The optimal experimental conditions were determined to be pH = 4, C0 = 40 ppm, t = 150 min, temp. = 40 °C, and abs. dose = 1 g/l, and the corresponding U(VI) removal efficiency was about 97 ± 2%.

Electrochemical deposition technique was used to fabricate titanium doped amorphous carbon (Ti doped a:C) Al/Ti-a:C/p-Si/Al photodiode. The effects of illumination on the current–voltage (I–V) characteristics of the Al/a:C/p-Si/Al doped Ti diode for optoelectronic applications were investigated. The reverse current of the diode increased with the increasing illumination intensities when the bias voltage was applied. By using the forward bias I–V characteristics, the ideality factor (n) and barrier height (Φb) of Al/Ti-a:C/p-Si photodiode structure was found as 1,84 and 0,50 eV, respectively. In addition, the capacitance–voltage (C–V) and conductance–voltage (G–V) measurements of the diode were studied in the frequency range of 100 kHz–600 kHz. The measured values of the capacitance decreased with the increasing frequency. The photoelectrical properties of Al/Ti-a:C/p-Si/Al device indicates that the photodiode investigated in this paper has great potential to be used in optoelectronic device applications and in industry.

- MakaleAçık Erişim2018Scopus SJRQ2Quality changes of nugget prepared from fresh and smoked rainbow trout during chilled storage
Duman, Muhsine; Karaton Kuzgun, Nermin
Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to produce fish nugget from fresh or smoked fish and to investigate the quality characteristics of fish nuggets during refrigerated storage. Design/methodology/approach: The study was designed to evaluate the effect of fresh and smoked fish on the storage quality parameters of fish nuggets. The products were developed by incorporating optimum level of fresh and smoked separately and were vacuum packaged in low-density polyethylene pouches and assessed for various storage quality parameters under refrigerated (2±1°C) conditions for 27 days of storage. The products were evaluated for various chemical, microbiological and sensory parameters at regular interval of three day. Findings: Nuggets from smoked fish had lower (p<0.05) moisture, higher fat and crude protein compared to fresh fish nuggets. Total volatile basic nitrogen for fresh nugget samples exceeded the limit value of 30 mg N/100 g fish muscle on the 24 days of storage. At the end of storage period, TBA values were 2.8 mg malonaldehyde/kg for fresh nugget samples and 2.1 mg malonaldehyde/kg for smoked nugget samples. Microbial counts were found to be significantly (p<0.05) higher in fresh nugget than in smoked nugget samples. Sensory quality scores of smoked nuggets were significantly higher, than fresh nugget. The shelf life of fish nugget was found to be 24 days for fresh nuggets and 27 days for smoked nugget samples according to sensory assessment results. Originality/value: The paper has demonstrated that the smoked fish meat prouduce nuggets of better quality, as indicated by lower microbial counts and higher sensory attributes compared to fresh fish meat.

- MakaleAçık Erişim2018Scopus SJRQ1An Agent-Based Pythagorean Fuzzy Approach for Demand Analysis with Incomplete Information
Baloglu, Ulas Baran; Demir, Yakup
Analyzing demand in environments with incomplete information is a challenging task. This paper proposes a novel agent-based Pythagorean fuzzy approach for analyzing this kind of demand. First, a Bayesian game is described with a large number of finite players, and this is followed by a Pythagorean fuzzy-based decision mechanism. Unlike the classical methods in the literature, the proposed method in this paper neither assumes nor forecasts the demand in a system. Instead, it tries to analyze the demand when there is limited availability of input data, or processing data are computationally expensive. The study ends with an application of the proposed system to an electricity grid. Electricity prices used as an incentive to construct an agent-based system that efficiently reduces the peak amounts in a smart grid by analyzing the demand. Test results provide evidence that the proposed approach is promising to design demand response systems.

In this study, effects of hen age and rearing systems on some oxidative stress parameters in serum and ovarian tissues of hens are investigated. For this purpose, total of 48 Bovans White commercial laying hybrids from two different rearing systems (conventional cage and organic) at 30 and 60 weeks of age were used. Serum and ovarian tissues of the hens were collected following slaughter process and malondialdehyde (MDA), glutathione (GSH), glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) and catalase (CAT) levels of serum and ovarian tissues were determined. MDA levels of serum was found significantly higher in conventional system, both in 30 and 60 weeks old (P<0.05). GSH-Px activity was lower, conversely CAT activity was significantly higher in conventional system (P<0.05). Hen age didn’t affect MDA, GSH, GSH-Px and CAT levels of serum (P>0.05). In addition, there weren’t any significant interactions between rearing system and hen age in serum (P>0.05). MDA (P=0.010) and GSH (P<0.01) levels of ovarian tissue were found significantly higher in conventional system while GSH levels of ovarian tissue had increased in 60 weeks old (P<0.01). GSH-Px and CAT activity was similar between groups (P>0.05). Interaction between rearing system and hen age affected activity of CAT in ovarian tissue (P<0.05). As a result, conventional battery cages caused oxidative stress interrelated with increasing lipid peroxidation and MDA levels in laying hens. Antioxidant enzymes that play role in reduction of MDA were inadequate in this system. Oxidant/antioxidant balance can be established at 30 or 60 weeks of age by hen organism and therefore MDA levels of tissues would not be affected by age.

Çimen, Okay; Önal, Ayten Öztüfekçi
The İzmir-Ankara-Erzincan-Sevan-Akera Suture Belt (IAESASB) stretches from the Aegean Sea to the Lesser Caucasus and includes the remnants of the Northern Neotethys. The Ovacık and Pülümür Ophiolite Zone (OPOZ) to the north of Tunceli is less-known members of this belt. In this study, preliminary geochemical data from the basaltic and gabbroic rocks from this zone are presented to provide the first insights into their geochemistry. The studied mafic samples exhibit geochemical characteristics of an intra-oceanic subduction system. Three types of samples were differentiated on the basis of their major, trace and rare earth element (REE) geochemistry. The first one is boninitic and displays highly depleted elemental pattern (relative to N-MORB) and concave REE profile. The second type is akin to back-arc basin basalts (BABB) and generally reflects normal-MORB (NMORB)-like high field strength element (HFSE) patterns coupled with negative Nb anomalies. The last type is relatively similar to the BABB-type, but it lacks the marked negative anomaly in Nb and can be ascribed to the mid-ocean ridge basalt (MORB). The overall geochemical features suggest that these mafic rocks were predominantly generated in a supra-subduction setting from a subduction-modified mantle source. It is further suggested that the Ovacık and Pülümür Ophiolite Zone was formed in an oceanic arc-basin system within the northward subducting Northern Neotethys.

- MakaleYalnız künye2018Scopus SJRQ3An efficient compression of ECG signals using deep convolutional autoencoders
Yildirim, Ozal; Tan, Ru San; Acharya, U. Rajendra
Background and objective: Advances in information technology have facilitated the retrieval and processing of biomedical data. Especially with wearable technologies and mobile platforms, we are able to follow our healthcare data, such as electrocardiograms (ECG), in real time. However, the hardware resources of these technologies are limited. For this reason, the optimal storage and safe transmission of the personal health data is critical. This study proposes a new deep convolutional autoencoder (CAE) model for compressing ECG signals. Methods: In this paper, a deep network structure of 27 layers consisting of encoder and decoder parts is designed. In the encoder section of this model, the signals are reduced to low-dimensional vectors; and in the decoder section, the signals are reconstructed. The deep learning approach provides the representations of the low and high levels of signals in the hidden layers of the model. Hence, the original signal can be reconstructed with minimal loss. Very different from traditional linear transformation methods, a deep compression approach implies that it can learn to use different ECG records automatically. Results: The performance was evaluated on an experimental data set comprising 4800 ECG fragments from 48 unique clinical patients. The compression rate (CR) of the proposed model was 32.25, and the average PRD value was 2.73%. These favourable observation suggest that our deep model can allow secure data transfer in a low-dimensional form to remote medical centers. We present an effective compression approach that can potentially be used in wearable devices, e-health applications, telemetry and Holter systems.
