Aydın, Oğuz; Kazez, Muhammed; Say, Yakup; Belhan, Oktay
Objective: Femoral neck fractures (FNF) in young patients are relatively rare but can lead to severe complications if not treated appro-priately. Pauwels type 2 fractures, characterized by moderate inclination, require surgical stabilization. However, no consensus exists regarding the optimal implant that provides superior biomechanical stability. This study aims to compare the biomechanical properties of 3 different fixation systems for the surgical treatment of Pauwels type 2 FNF. Methods: A total of 21 bovine femurs of similar age and size were selected and divided into 3 fixation groups: dynamic hip screw (DHS), cannulated screws (CS), and major plate (MP). Each specimen underwent axial compression testing to assess the maximum load-bearing capacity, shear force resistance, and deformation characteristics of the fixation methods. Results: The results showed that the CS group exhibited the highest shear stress resistance, followed by the DHS group, while the MP group showed significantly lower mechanical strength and elongation (P <.05). Although DHS provided substantial stability, CS demon-strated superior overall mechanical performance. In contrast, the MP system showed significantly lower resistance compared to the other 2 fixation methods. Conclusion: This biomechanical study highlights the importance of implant selection in the management of Pauwels type 2 FNF. Although previous investigations have questioned the adequacy of CS fixation in highly unstable Pauwels type 3 fractures, the results suggest that CS may be a reliable and effective option for the relatively more stable Pauwels type 2 pattern. Because the tests were performed on bovine femur models, which do not fully reflect the structural characteristics of human bone, these findings should be interpreted with caution. Further biomechanical studies using human cadaveric specimens are required to confirm the applicability of these results to clinical practice.
- MakaleAçık Erişim2023Investigation of the Level of Attachment of Fathers to the Fetus and Factors Affecting Such Attachment in the Prenatal Period; [Prenatal Dönemde Babaların Fetüse Bağlanma Düzeyi ve Bu Bağlanmayı Etkileyen Faktörler]
Gümüşsoy, Süreyya; Dönmez, Sevgül; Alp Dal, Nursel
Objective: The aim of this study was to determine the level of attachment of fathers to the fetus and the factors affecting such attachment in the prenatal period. Methods: This descriptive study was conducted on 463 fathers whose spouses were 24–38 weeks pregnant in the obstetrics outpatient clinic of the University Research and Practice Hospital Gynecology Department between December 2019 and April 2020. The “Information Form” and “Intrauterine Father Attachment Scale” (IFAS) were used as data collection tools for this study. Results: In this study, the total score of Intrauterine Father Attachment Scale was found to be 62.22 ± 10.66 (min = 34, max = 87). The mean Intrauterine Father Attachment Scale scores of the fathers who had a good income level had a less marriage period, had less children, had a high educational level, who want to have more children, and whose spouse’s pregnancy was not risky were found to be higher than those of the fathers who did not (p >.05). Furthermore, of the fathers those who were previously knowledgeable about baby care and were experienced in baby care thought that both of the parents should be responsible for the care of the baby, perceived the support given by his family as sufficient, thought that marriage means happiness, wanted to attend their wives’ childbirth in the delivery room, wanted to attend pregnancy schools, and thought that the social relations affect the baby positively obtained higher scores from the IFAS (p >.05). Conclusion: Regression results have shown that getting information about baby care, who is mostly responsible for a baby’s care, educational status, and status of wanting to join pregnant schools have a significant impact on Intrauterine Father Attachment Scale scores.

Gül, Şenay; Arslan, Sevda; Erkuş Küçükkelepçe, Gülhan
Objectives: This study is conducted to explore clinical nurses’ experiences and perspectives regarding the clinical education of nursing students using Benner’s theory. Materials and Methods: Qualitative design was used in this study. A purposive sample of 15 nurses was recruited from both public and university hospitals in 3 cities in the central, eastern, and southeastern areas of the country. A qualitative thematic analysis was conducted. Results: The thematic analysis revealed 3 themes: (a) characteristics of nurses as instructor, (b) nurses’ roles and responsibilities in nursing education, and (c) the factors affecting the effectiveness of clinical education themes emerged. Conclusion: Clinical nurses have important roles and responsibilities in increasing the effectiveness of nursing education. The personality traits, roles, and responsibilities of clinical nurses affect the learning of nursing students. Clinical nurses should be trained to guide nursing students.

İncele - MakaleAçık Erişim2011Effects of Training on Womans Who Have High Risk in Terms of Indoor Environmental Air Pollution
Karatay, Gulnaz; Akkus, Yeliz
Aim: This study was conducted to determine the effects of training on women who have high risk in terms of indoor environmental air pollution in Kars. Methods: This study was planned as an intervention study and the data was collected between March 10, 2010 to March 10, 2011. The study was performed on 80 women who were trained by six visits made once in every other week at their home. Data were collected with socio-demographic form, health status information form, environmental tobacco exposure form, information form on dried cow dung usage and awareness of women, St. George Respiratory Questionnaire. Results: After the intervention, it was seen that knowledge level of women about use of dried cow dung was increased dramatically. The St. George Respiratory Questionnaire scores of these women at were 2.40 point lower in positive aspect, but the difference wasn't statistically significant. At the beginning 94.7% and after the study 72.4% of women have declared environmental smoke exposure. Conculation: After the study, it was seen that knowledge level of women about dried cow dung usage and it's harm to health as well as their efforts to improve respiratory system health were increased.
