- MakaleYalnız künye2018Prediction of maximum relative out-of- plane displacement of infill wall exposed to shake table by using artificial neural network models
Gul, Muhammet; Onat, Onur
This paper aims to present forecasting of relative out-of-plane displacement, failure mode and failure limit of reinforced concrete frame enclosure with infill wall by artificial neural network (ANN) models. For this purpose, two shake table experiment test results were evaluated. Model-I is unreinforced brick model and Model-II is composed of infill wall with bed joint reinforcement. After a certain acceleration level, accelerometers are detached from the cracked wall surface in order not to be damaged. These instrument detachments cause data missing. Missing relative maximum out-of-plane displacements were predicted by ANN models. Moreover, failure of infill wall through out-of-plane direction is also predicted at 0,79g acceleration level for both models (Model-I and Model-II). This study proves that ANN based procedure predict robust results to estimate missing experimental data

Yucesan, Melih
The white goods sector is one of the locomotive sectors of the country due to the contributions of employment and exports. The technological developments and globalization experienced in recent years are among the sectors that are affected by the changing and competitive conditions. Efficient production planning; must meet the current demand in time and with minimal cost. Determining the current demand is possible with a good sales forecast. In this sense, sales forecasting plays an important role in the success of decision makers. In this study, the sales forecast model for the white goods sector was proposed. The 46 months’ sales data have been used for dishwashers, refrigerators, small house appliances and televisions. The exchange rate, holiday days, consumer confidence index, producer price index, housing sales in the region are used as explanatory variable. It can be said that the most accurate estimates are obtained by using the ANN method when mean squared error (MSE) compared which is the performance criterion.

Tümen, Vedat; Algur, Özlem; Yıldırım, Özal
In this paper, a hybrid deep learning approach is proposed for automatic classification of human actions in outdoor images. Firstly, the detection of the humans in the image taken from the outdoor environment is provided. For this purpose, YOLO, a pre-trained deep object detection tool widely used in the literature, is used. The Google street view platform was preferred to acquire outdoor images. Action classes were created for the detected humans. These action classes; walking to the right, walking to the left, standing and sitting. Thus, a comprehensive dataset has been created for humans identified from the outdoor images. A convolutional neural network (CNN) model is designed for the automatic recognition of classes. With this designed CNN model, automatic recognition of the human actions is provided. This trained model is used in a hybrid manner with the YOLO object detection system to automatically recognize the human actions in the input images.Within the scope of the article, a four-class dataset was created and performance evaluations of the proposed system were made.

İncele - MakaleAçık Erişim2018Investigation of the contact problem for a partial functionally gradedlayer by using finite element method
Kaya, Y.; Polat, A.; Bora, P.; Bendine, K.; Özşahin, T.ş.
The difficulty of producing functionally graded materials (FGM) and the fact that they are more expensive than homogeneous materials emerge as an industrial problem. The starting point of this study is to investigate alternative solution methods that will contribute to the mentioned problem. In parallel, the analysis of the contact problem for a layer, which is loaded by a rigid block and resting on the elastic half plane, is presented in this paper. Only the area under the block is considered as FGM, the other parts are considered homogeneous material, unlike the studies in the literature. There is no analytical solution for this study and it is compared with the solution which is completely functionally graded (FG) layer in the literature by using finite element method (FEM). Material properties of the FG layer are defined by the macro added to the ANSYS program. The analysis for the partial FG layer were compared with the completely FG layer analysis as figures and tables, and as a result it was predicted that partial FGM could be used for the static problems and may also be practical applications in the industry.

İncele - MakaleYalnız künye2018Prediction and verification of compressive strength of historicalmasonry structures with artificial neural network
Onat, O.; Yön, B.
Compressive strength and modulus of elasticity are the key material properties of historical structures to adapt finite element model to obtain correct structural assessment. Generally, modulus of elasticity is adapted by multiplying compressive strength of the material. In this paper, it is aimed to predict compressive strength of historical masonry buildings by using material characteristics and physical characteristics. For this purpose, 21 historical masonry mosques, churches and cathedrals were selected. Unit weight, wall thickness, height of the structure, plan area and modulus of elasticity of the selected 21 historical structures are listed as material characteristics and physical characteristics for using compressive strength prediction. Artificial Neural Network model is used to predict compressive strength of 13 different historical structures. Performance of prediction is verified by using MATLAB among all 34 total historical structures. 0.83 Rsquare is obtained from the prediction model and total prediction performance is obtained from trained data 0.97 and 0.79 from all 34 data by using MATLAB.

Celik, Erkan; Aydin, Nezir; Gumus, Alev Taskin
This paper aims to decide on the number of facilities and their locations, procurement for pre and post-disaster, and allocation to mitigate the effects of large-scale emergencies. A two-stage stochastic mixed integer programming model is proposed that combines facility location-prepositioning, decisions on pre-stocking levels for emergency supplies, and allocation of located distribution centers (DCs) to affected locations and distribution of those supplies to several demand locations after large-scale emergencies with uncertainty in demand. Also, theuseofthemodelisdemonstratedthroughacasestudyfor prepositioning of supplies in probable large-scale emergencies in the eastern and southeastern Anatolian sides of Turkey. The results provide a framework for relief organizations to determine the location and number of DCs in different settings, by using the proposed model considering the main parameters, as; capacity of facilities, probability of being affected for each demand points, severity of events, maximum distance between a demand point and distribution center.
- MakaleYalnız künye2017Estimating Global Solar Radiation for Tunceli City using ANFIS
Celik, Erkan; Gul, Muhammet
Because of the high cost of measurement equipment and their maintenance, global solar radiation measurement is not always implemented. Hence, several forecasting approaches based on fuzzy sets, artificial intelligence or soft computing are proposed to forecast global solar radiation owing to being less cost. However, it is vital to select the most suitable approach for a specific purpose and region. In this study, the adaptive-network based fuzzy inference systems (ANFIS) is proposed to forecast monthly mean daily global solar radiation for Tunceli, Turkey. The monthly data between 1990 and 2010 is used for the proposed approach. The data was obtained from provincial directorate of meteorology of Tunceli. According to the gathered data, the highest value of monthly average daily global solar radiation was measured as 5.218 kWh/m² in the year of 1993. The lowest one with a value of 3.905 kWh/m² belongs to the year of 1997. Similarly, the highest value of monthly average daily sunshine duration was measured as 8.71 hours in the year of 1993. The lowest one with a value of 6.64 hours belongs to the year of 2009. When the data is analysed on a monthly basis, the highest value of monthly average daily global solar radiation was measured as 7.409 kWh/m² in the month of June. The lowest one with a value of 1.762 kWh/m² belongs to the month of December. Similarly, the highest value of monthly average daily sunshine duration was measured as 12 hours in the month of July. The lowest one with a value of 3.1 hours belongs to the month of December. The experiments were applied in MATLAB 7 package software in order to obtain the optimum network architecture. In this network, there are 3 inputs (months, years and monthly average daily sunshine duration) and 1 output (the estimation of the monthly average daily global solar radiation). The ANFIS proposed in this study has Gaussian membership function and twenty fuzzy rules are used. The number of the data points (monthly average daily global solar radiation measurement) is 245. As a performance measure of the ANFIS network, the mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) was used. In testing stage, the MAPE was obtained as 6.365 which is quite well for this type of problem. The coefficient of determination (RSquared) value was calculated as 0.999 which is significantly high. The highly successful results show the success of the fuzzy based methodology of ANFIS which provides estimations of global solar radiation successfully. The presented approach shows that the ANFIS illustrates promising in the forecasting of monthly mean daily global solar radiation using available data. Future studies to estimate the monthly mean global solar radiation of Tunceli city with greater accuracy can be achieved using more apparent meteorological input parameters and different artificial intelligence techniques like artificial neural networks, autoregressive moving average methods or support vector machines. These methods can be improved for available models of daily and hourly estimation of global solar radiation.

Alatas, Bilal; Kiziloluk, Soner
Optimization is the process of making something better. For example, in an f(x) function in optimization, it is asked for finding x values which make the values of the result minimum. Different methods have been proposed for solving optimization problems. Some of these processes have been inspired by natural processes. Ant colony optimization algorithm can be given as an example. Some of the other methods have been inspired by social events. Although the number of social based methods is limited, the most known one is tabu search algorithm. Recently, researchers have developed teaching-learning based algorithm, imperialist competitive algorithm, and parliamentary optimization algorithm. In this study, how the imperialist competitive algorithms and parliamentary optimization algorithms which are social-based algorithms are modeled and how parliamentary optimization algorithm is implemented on the problems have been mentioned.
